Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin Workers Join WFNHP, AFT

The ballots are in and nurses, clinical lab scientists and other health care workers at Planned Parenthood locations throughout the state have voted to join the Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, AFT.

Tanya Atkinson, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, and Connie Smith, President of Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, released a joint statement: 

“With the care of employees and patients at the center or our collective work, we intend to build a good working relationship as we navigate the next steps together in support of our employees. We thank employees for voting and look forward to bargaining in good faith to ensure Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin continues to provide excellent patient care.”  

Wisconsin AFL-CIO President Stephanie Bloomingdale released the following statement welcoming Wisconsin’s newest union members:

“Congratulations to the frontline healthcare workers and staff at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin who have voted and won their union election to be members of the Wisconsin Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, AFT. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin workers will now have a union voice on the job to collectively speak up to enhance quality patient care.

Wisconsin workers are taking action and voting for union rights to create better workplaces with respect, dignity and a voice on the job. We look forward to supporting Planned Parenthood workers through the process of securing a strong first union contract.”
